It’s after a long gap that I’m putting up a post. If you are a Pinterest lover then you should definitely come to Sienna Store & Cafe. For me, I just love cafes where you can sit and relax with your favorite book and a cup of hot chocolate and Sienna fits this description perfectly. Don’t let Zomato ratings dictate where you should go and where you should not. This particular cafe does not have a very good rating in Zomato but it is definitely worth visiting. But photography is prohibited inside the cafe so we couldn’t click pictures on the camera. However, you can take pictures on your phone and that’s what we did. Although these pictures are not enough and they clearly do not depict every corner of the cafe and thus, they do not do justice to this amazing place. To really feel its magic, you have to visit it in person.
Location
The cafe is located in one of the quiet lanes of Hindustan Park. We took an Ola but the cafe can be easily spotted on Google Maps. It is easily accessible by local transport as well. Board the Metro to Kalighat and then take an auto from the Rashbehari Crossing to Basanti Devi College. The cafe is just a 5 mins walk from there. If metro is not an option for you then just take a bus from your location to Rashbehari Crossing and from there you can avail the autos.
Ambience
The ambience is the best thing about the cafe. The entire area will seem like it has just hopped out of a Pinterest board and if you are a decor fanatic like me, this cafe will leave a mark on you. Their store has a very rich collection of home decor items and funky jewellery. You will also get handmade journals and cotton tunics and dresses. There are items of every price range. I bought a bookmark for Rs 55 and a handmade notebook of Rs 270. But there products of higher range as well. Their ceramics collection is just outstanding.
Now coming to the decor, it is just other-worldly. It is such a picturesque place and the boho vibe of the place will surely appeal to you. The hanging lights, seating style and quirky corners give this place its uniqueness. We went there during the day and the seating place for the cafe has its terrace fully covered in a transparent way. So, you have the love for outdoor seating fulfilled with the cool atmosphere created by the air conditioners. This makes it the best place to visit even during the summers (which is almost the whole year in Kolkata) and still enjoy the perks of outdoor seating. I really loved the Parisian touch in the overall decor.
Food
Sienna Store & Cafe has a range of healthy food options and is also a very good place for vegan options. We ordered two cups of Hot Chocolate (Rs 155 each) and two plates of Pasta with Mushroom in Sun Dried Tomato Sauce (Rs 360 each). We also ordered a Chicken & Cheese Sandwich (Rs 240) but were already full so had to pack it for home. The best thing about the food is that everything they use is homemade. The taste of the food is good but nothing special and the quantity is enough for an average person. From the price point of view, I would say it is a bit costly but then the overall experience you get makes up for it. Moreover, you are getting a very good free Wi-Fi and you can spend a good time in this cafe and no one will rush you up.
